On February 12, parliament voted to move a draft amendment on the Construction Law submitted by SMER-SD MPs Renáta Zmajkovičová and Marián Kovacocy to a second reading.
If approved, the revision would enable developers to choose the area plan on which an area decision would be issued. Construction offices would decide which applicant to select, the SITA newswire wrote.
This means that if the new area plan is at odds with their business plans, construction authorities will have to issue area development decisions based on the old one. However, applications have to be submitted at a time when the old area plan was valid.
The opposition has criticised the amendment as detrimental to the public interest. SITA
