Font size: A - | A +

On March 29, the parliament approved a draft amendment to the Law on Religious Freedom that was put forward by Smer MP Ján Podmanický and Movement for a Democratic Slovakia MP Ľudmila Mušková.

According the revision, a church will need the signatures of 20,000 of its members in order to be officially recognised as a religion in Slovakia and receive support from the state. Until now, it was enough to have the signatures of 20,000 sympathizers. Moreover, the 20,000 signatures need to be from adults with Slovak citizenship and permanent residence in Slovakia.
