Following the summer recess, the Slovak parliament reconvened on Tuesday, September 8.
Lawmakers advanced a revision to the law on gambling games to its second reading. The draft suggests that these games be operated exclusively on the basis of a licence. Individual licences should be required for gambling in casinos. Outside casinos, their provision is to be conditional on a general licence.
Providers of poker-type card games should thus direct €200 per table monthly or €1,500 per table annually towards the state budget as of 2010. This amendment is expected to bring €7.6 million or more to the state budget next year and increase revenues of municipalities by €3 million, the SITA newswire wrote.
