SPEAKER of Parliament Pavol Hrušovský called the first parliamentary session for September 12 after a summer recess. The session's agenda features 91 issues, the SITA news agency wrote.
One point on the agenda is the amendment to the constitution, which would boost the power of the Supreme Audit Office in regards to regional governments. MPs will also decide on the fate of the law on lobbying that legalizes the activity.
MPs will also decide on a non-smokers protection bill, which prohibits the sale of tobacco products in hospitals and scraps smoking rooms in schools, and healthcare and cultural facilities. The September session will also deal with the Security Strategy and the Defence Strategy of the Slovak Republic.
The opposition Smer party plans to submit a draft resolution to stop any further privatization projects.
Behind closed doors, the MPs will also discuss reports on terrorism and electronic surveillance. Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš will submit a report on macroeconomic development and tax evasion on tobacco and spirits.
