PARLIAMENT turned down a Labour Ministry amendment to the social insurance law, which would have given minister Ludovít Kaník a free hand to withdraw directors of social security provider Sociálna Poisťovňa, the daily SME wrote.
The amendment would have erased the part of the law defining reasons for the dismissal of the provider’s directors.
The draft failed due to the reluctance of the deputies of the New Citizen Alliance, Hungarian Coalition Party, and Christian Democrats to stand behind Kaník's reform.
Several days ago, the parliament rejected Education Minister Martin Fronc’s education reform, which would have seen the establishment of tuition fees.
