ON THE BASIS of the results of the 2002 general elections, Slovak political parties received Sk113.6 million (€3 million) from the state budget in the form of subsidies in 2005.
The Finance Ministry released the money proportionately to all parties that gained more than 3 percent in the elections, in accordance with the law.
Apart from a Sk60 (€1.6) contribution for every vote the parties gained, which totalled Sk38.7 million, another Sk75 million went to the country's seven parliamentary parties. Each parliamentary party is entitled to a Sk500,000 annual contribution from the state for each seat in parliament it won, the Hospodárske noviny wrote.
