The business environment continued to deteriorate in the final quarter of 2011, the Slovak Business Alliance (PAS) said on Wednesday, February 8, as reported by the TASR newswire.
PAS's Business Environment Index (IPP) stood at 87 points in the fourth quarter of last year, representing a drop of 2.43 points compared to the previous three months. "The perceived worsening is tied mainly to events surrounding the demise of the government and the resulting halt to the adoption of reform bills," said PAS executive director Róbert Kičina. "Entrepreneurs are also increasingly wary given the difficulties in predicting developments on the Slovak political scene as well as on markets in Europe," Kičina added. PAS is an association of companies that employ 64,000 people and have a combined annual turnover of €16.93 billion.
