The entrepreneurial environment in Slovakia deteriorated slightly in the final quarter of 2010, with the Business Environment Index (IPP) dropping 0.39 percent on the quarter to 91.5 points, thereby returning to the level seen in the second quarter of 2010, the Slovak Business Alliance (PAS) said on Tuesday, March 15.
In year-on-year terms, the index fell by 5.9 percent. "The index worsened mainly on the back of inflationary pressures caused by higher VAT and excise-tax rates, as well as the prices of oil and other commodities. In addition, a higher levy burden influenced it," the TASR newswire reported, citing Matej Tunega, an analyst with PAS, which prepares the indicator based on its own survey.
