HISTORY will remember Ivan Gašparovič as a president of all citizens, Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška said at the ceremonial parliamentary session at the Slovak Philharmonic hall, during which Gašparovič handed over the office to Andrej Kiska on June 15.
Paška thanked Gašparovič for his two five-year terms in office, during which, according to the parliamentary speaker, he represented Slovakia in a dignified manner both at home and abroad.
“Your service in the highest constitutional office deserves our recognition,” said Paška, as quoted by the TASR newswire, adding that Gašparovič, while in office, managed to combine professionalism and humanness, while emphasising social and national principles.
