Slovakia's Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paška commented on March 17 that he planned to call a vote on the Treaty of Lisbon for the next parliamentary session on March 26 – if the motion enjoys the support of at least 90 (out of 15O) MPs, or a three-fifths majority, the TASR newswire wrote.
Paška said he still regards the opposition's stance on the treaty - support for it in exchange for changes to the Press Act – as blackmail. If, however, Parliament approves the Press Act, Paška said that after political discussions, the vote on the Treaty of Lisbon will take place at the next session of the Parliament.
At its previous session, Parliament postponed the vote on the international document indefinitely. Paška can include it into parliamentary agenda any time, but so far the agenda doesn't feature it.
Paška didn't include the proposal by independent MP Vladimír Palko (former vice-chair of KDH) that Parliament should approve a referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon's ratification into Parliament’s agenda. Paška sent Palko's proposal to Parliament's Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee. TASR
