Speaker of Parliament Pavol Pasška (Smer) defended the choice of Váhostav, a firm co-owned by billionaire Juraj Široký, for reconstructing Bratislava Castle, he told the TASR newswire on December 22.
Váhostav is one of the most respected companies for that type of work, Paška said. He added that it won an international tender at Sk3.8 billion (€126 million).
Originally, only a palace in critical condition on the castle grounds was supposed to be refurbished, but the government eventually approved Sk3.8 billion for the entire castle. TASR
