Pažinková was nominated for the post by former health minister Zuzana Zvolenská who stepped down along with speaker of parliament Pavol Paška and deputy speaker Renata Zmajkovičová in the wake of the CT-scan scandal at Piešťany Hospital in late 2014. Pažinková had led ÚDZS since July 2012. She was mentioned by name yesterday by incoming Health Minister Tomáš Drucker among a group of leading figures in the sector he was looking askance at.

“ÚDZS chair has submitted her resignation to the cabinet on Wednesday [March 30], which means that her duties terminated on the same day,” Drucker said after the cabinet’s inaugural session on the same day, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “I’ll nominate candidates to lead ÚDZS in the next few weeks.”

As yet, he has not specified any names.
