Pensions in Slovakia will go up in January 2009, and not in July, after Parliament approved an amendment to the social insurance law.
The minister for Labour, Social Affairs and Family, Viera Tomanová, said she anticipates pensions will rise by 6.75 percent at the beginning of next year.
This would mean pensioners receiving Sk4,000 (€ 132.78) in the first six months of 2009 compared to the same period this year. SITA
