THROUGH its company Slovenská záchranná, the Penta capital group has gained control of a third of 259 ambulance stations across the country.
While Slovenská záchranná operates 73 ambulance stations, another company, IRS, which belongs to Ivan Baláži, the former advisor of Health Minister Rudolf Zajac, gained licenses for 25 ambulance stations, the Pravda daily wrote.
The Health Ministry denied any impropriety in its selection of the new operators in a tender process.
"Neither Slovenská záchranná nor IRS won [licenses to operate] all of the ambulance stations they applied for. There will always be some tender losers that claim that that the selection was manipulated," said Mario Mikloši from the ministry.
