This will be made possible by the Daruj jedlo (Donate Food) service via the Uber mobile application, the TASR newswire wrote. The service has been prepared in cooperation with the Food Bank of Slovakia, Potravinová banka Slovenska. The organisers want to collect foodstuffs for those in emergency situations.
In Bratislava, the public can donate food via the mobile app between 13:00 and 20:00 by setting the service Daruj jedlo and asking for a free car which should come within a few minutes to collect the donated food and bring it to the warehouse of Potravinová banka Slovenska. This food collecting event also takes place simultaneously in Prague and Budapest.
“We welcome every such opportunity to help,” Marko Urdzik of Potravinová banka Slovenska told TASR. “It is crucial to realise that many of those less fortunate live among us, and that they will appreciate such help.”
People who want to help should donate durable, non-perishable goods like cans of all types, legumes, rice, pasta, flour, semolina, instant soups, sugar, tea, oil and salt, as well as sponge biscuits, butter, spreads or cereals.
