THE CITY administration in Žilina is again thinking about building a burial place for pets, with Mayor Igor Choma saying it will not be huge but just a sensible cemetery where Žilina residents can lay their small pets to rest.
“A town like Žilina needs to have a cemetery for pets. Its exact location is now a matter of expert discussion by architects, environmentalists and hygienic professionals. The location must be fenced so that wild animals will not have access and they cannot dig out the cadavers; and it also needs to have a path,” Choma stated, as quoted by the SITA newswire. He suggested that the pet cemetery could be placed somewhere in the town’s forested area, called Lesopark Chrasť.
“It would be a pleasant, decent area where pets would find their peace,” he told SITA.
Žilina considered opening a pet cemetery in 2010, choosing Hradisko as the best site, but the city council voted down the initiative.
