Chair of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK) Peter Mihók has become the head of the World Chambers Federation of the International Chamber of Commerce. He is the first Slovak elected to this post, the TASR newswire reported on September 14.

Mihók received the vote from all 50 elected representatives of the General Council of the federation during a session that took place in Istanbul. His three-year tenure will begin on January 1, 2013. By that time Mihók will serve as the federation’s deputy chair, TASR wrote.

The World Chambers Federation is the only global institution associating entrepreneurial entities and trade chambers throughout the world. It represents around 1,700 trade chambers, including national chambers, regional chambers and large trans-national chambers, such as Eurochambres and the Association of Chambers of Commerce in Latin America.
