A PIT bull fatally wounded a 78-year-old woman in the village of Figa, near the town of Rimavská Sobota (Banská Bystrica region) on April 6.
The woman went to visit a neighbour on Saturday afternoon to get some eggs, but when she entered the fenced yard of the neighbour's house she was attacked by his dog. “The woman died during transport to the hospital,” the TASR newswire learned from Banská Bystrica police spokesperson Petra Vašková. “An autopsy has been ordered with the investigator to decide what charge will be laid afterwards based on its outcome.”
The pit bull also attacked his owner as he tried to help the woman. According to several witnesses, the owner yelled at her not to enter the garden, because the dog was unleashed. The woman failed to hear the warning. Immediately after the attack, the owner tried to pull the dog away from the woman, but then was attacked as well. The case is now under investigation.
