These issues will be on the agenda of the European Council's meeting in Brussels later in June, said Beatrice Hudáková, the prime minister’s spokeswoman to SITA, adding that Fico will inform van Rompuy about the Slovak government’s fiscal consolidation package.

Van Rompuy is paying his second official visit to Slovakia. The EU official is scheduled to meet the country’s three most senior constitutional officials. He paid his first visit to Bratislava in July 2011.

European leaders will gather at a summit in Brussels in late June to discuss not only short-term issues relating to the eurozone crisis, such as reconstructing the Spanish banking sector and the EU’s approach towards Greece following its upcoming general election, but a long-term vision of how Europe should operate in the future as well, the TASR newswire wrote. The agenda will also include how to combine fiscal consolidation with support for economic growth, TASR wrote.
