SLOVAK-Russian bilateral ties and various international issues were the main topics of a meeting between Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Russian President Vladimir Putin following the European Union summit in the Finnish city of Lahti on October 21.
Fico said that Slovakia is interested in improving the quality of relations with Russia. The Slovak leader also discussed economic co-operation between the two countries with Putin as well as the upcoming official visit of Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič to Russia.
Speaking at a news briefing following the summit, Fico said that Slovak-Russian relations have not been the best over the last eight years. According to him, there is room for improving trade and economic and political ties.
