THE ANTITRUST Office (PMÚ) on January 13 approved the takeover by Central European Media Enterprises (CME) of the TV company Markíza-Slovakia, which operates Slovakia's most-watched TV channel, Markíza.
CME will control 34 percent directly and 46 percent indirectly in Markíza-Slovakia through the ARJ company.
A 30-day windown of time to apply for renewal of Markíza's broadcast licence also started that day.
Markíza's current licence is valid until to September 14, 2007. It is applying for a 12-year extension from the Broadcast and Retransmission Council.
