AFTER a gathering of the ultra-nationalist Slovenská pospolitosť (Slovak Togetherness) on October 30 in Černová the police apprehended its leader, Marián Kotleba, accusing him of supporting fascism.
However, the police released him after questioning and did not charge him with any crime, the daily Pravda reported.
The events in Černová was the culmination of a series of Slovenská pospolitosť gatherings during this weekend.
First, they gathered in Modra but the police dispersed the gathering because the participants handed out leaflets promoting fascism. The weekend gatherings were supposed to finish in Prešov, eastern Slovakia. Several people in black uniforms marched through the town of Prešov, guarded by riot police.
Before the city mayor's office a group of antifascists met the gathering whistling and yelling: "fascists out of our town".
