The Slovak police and their Swedish and Norwegian counterparts have arrested five people in possession of 150 kilograms of amphetamine and tens of thousands of pills used to produce the drug, Police Corps spokesperson Andrea Dobiášová told the TASR newswire on Wednesday, January 9.
The organised criminal group composed of people originating mainly from Slovakia supplied drugs to gangs in the Scandinavian countries. Members of the National Criminal Agency in Štúrovo caught a driver carrying 54,600 pills of an illegal substance worth €200,000. The driver ended up in custody along with another man, described only as Štefan K., who was in possession of part of a consignment set to be transported abroad.
"The arrest of the two persons is related to the international drug trade in Sweden and Norway. The Swedish police recently apprehended a person suspected of drug-trafficking along with a consignment of 150 kilograms of amphetamine," said Dobiášová.
