SLOVAK police broke up an international criminal gang on Saturday in Bratislava. Twelve guns were confiscated and five people arrested, four of them charged with carrying a concealed weapon and illegal arms dealing, news wire TASR wrote.
Ringleader Ioan Marius C - a Romanian with Austrian citizenship - was looking for possible partners in Slovakia and the Czech Republic and he had found an interested party in Slovakia.
On March 12, the Romanian smuggled various kinds of weapons of Austrian, Italian, German and Turkish origin into Slovakia.
The criminal organization was also involved in other economic criminal activities, including forged driver's licences, identification cards and stamps of various institutions.
Those arrested face up to eight years behind bars.
