FORMER tycoon Jozef Majský, who was released from custody two days ago, and who is awaiting a court case in relation to his involvement in the collapse of the unlicensed savings companies BMG Invest and Horizont Slovakia, is free to leave Slovakia and the police cannot stop him, wrote the Pravda daily.

Police have taken away his passport but, because Majský is an EU citizen, he only requires a regular piece of ID to travel legally within the EU.

Majský's lawyer Peter Filip said that his client had no intention of running away. Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic noted, however, that Majský was arrested at the Slovak-Austrian border nearly two years ago.
