Disciplinary action taken against Police President Jaroslav Spišiak because of his speeding violation has been pardoned by Interior Minister Daniel Lipšic and Spišiak will receive a bonus of €3,500 for the second half of 2011, Ľubomíra Miklovičová of the Interior Ministry's press department told the TASR newswire on December 12.
According to the Act on Police State Service, a disciplinary action elapses after a year but if a police officer deserves a pardon, it can be granted by his or her superior, in this case by Interior Minister Lipšic.
Lipšic punished Spišiak with three 15-percent monthly salary cuts for surpassing the speed limit by 33 km/h this summer in Nitra Region.
"The disciplinary action was pardoned in October so a bonus can be granted now," said Miklovičová. She added that Spišiak received the bonus in recognition of his outstanding performance and the achievements that the Police Corps has made under his administration.
At the time of the disciplinary action, the ministry had stated that Spišiak would not receive any bonus for 2011.
