Ivan Lexa, one-time director of the Slovak Information Service (SIS) and member of parliament for the opposition HZDS (Movement for a Democratic Slovakia), announced through his lawyer his pleasure with the police work that unraveled the murder of Robert Remiaš (see story, front page), and thanked investigators for treating the case objectively.
Speculation among political opponents and the local media had been that Lexa's SIS was somehow tied to the murder. Lexa, who is being prosecuted for abuse of power and fraud while at the head of the SIS, says he will sue all those who said he was behind the murder.
