According to the ministry, implementing this change into the law regulating social benefits for police and army officers is to encourage police officers to serve for longer. From next year, police officers are to receive unchanged retirement benefits after 15 years of service.

However, a new rule is proposed into the amendment setting the retirement age for police officers at 50. If a police officer is dismissed for a gross violation of his/her oath or duties, then he/she will be eligible for police retirement benefits only after reaching the official pension age.
