THE APPARENT bugging device found in an automobile used by former economy minister Juraj Miškov from Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party was not functional, police announced to the TASR newswire.
The former minister and vice-chair of SaS had announced on April 18 that a driver for the Economy Ministry had found a device in a ministry car that Miškov used for private purposes during his term in office.
“We sent the equipment for expert analysis. This has shown that the object seized was rendered defective and it couldn’t be used as wiretapping equipment,” Petra Hrášková, the spokesperson for Bratislava Regional Police headquarters, told TASR, adding that the police stopped their investigation on June 5.
“I had no expectations concerning the matter,” Miškov stated, as quoted by TASR. “I left it all up to the investigating authorities from the get-go,” adding that he had no idea who could have planted bugging equipment in the ministry car.
