Slovak police located an Italian national who was allegedly abducted by four men and taken to Slovakia. Two of the men are currently facing 25 years to life imprisonment, while the other two up to 12 years in prison, the TASR newswire reported.
The victim was being held in a cottage in the Martin district (Žilina Region), Police Corps President Tibor Gašpar told the press on May 3.
“Based on the information provided by the victim’s relatives, we launched a search operation on the territory of Slovakia,” Gašpar said, as quoted by TASR.
The ordeal began at a parking lot in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, where four men lured the victim out of his car and shoved him into a car with a Slovak registration number, and eventually transported him to Slovakia with the intention of asking for a ransom, TASR reported.
After the victim told his abductors that he did not have any cash, they demanded a house with a restaurant in Sardinia worth around €1.5 million from him.
The abductors were identified as Christos K., 45, and Dimitrios V., 38, both from Greece, Renato S., 38, from Canada, and Roman H., 21, from Slovakia. The police have taken all of them into custody, TASR wrote.
