Police are looking into whether the crime of endangering the public was committed vis-a-vis the tragedy that took place at the Pohoda music festival on Saturday, Police Corps spokesman Martin Korch told news wire TASR on July 18.
A severe storm accompanied by gusts of wind hit the area at around 4:00 p.m. on July 18, bringing down a large tent covering the O2 Arena. The tragedy claimed the life of a 29-year-old man from Piešťany (Trnava region).
"All circumstances related to the tragedy continue to be the subject of an investigation," added Korch.
In addition to the death of the young man, another three people suffered life-threatening injuries and remain in an extremely serious condition in hospitals. A total of 40 people were admitted into nine hospitals, while another 52 festival-goers were given first aid, news wire TASR reported.
The 13th annual Pohoda festival, which is the largest open-air fest in Slovakia, was called off after the accident. The festival-goers were evacuated.
