Only a few days after masked robbers raided a bank in Leopoldov, police have announced that they have been arrested and serving soldiers in the Slovak Army. The robbers were named as Peter from Sereď (aged 29) and Miroslav from Kostoľany nad Hornádom in the Košice district (aged 23).
They allegedly robbed the bank on July 1, looting several thousand euros in various currencies and escaping in an Audi that was later found burnt-out and abandoned near Šúrovce pri Váhu.
“In connection with the case, police made two house-searches and also searched several cars – with the older suspect being detained soon after the robbery and the younger one later,” Trnava regional police spokesperson Mária Linkešová told the TASR newswire. “On Wednesday, July 24, two men were charged with the robbery, and face up to 12 years in prison if sentenced. They have been detained and remain in custody,” she added.
