"The Slovak contingent belongs to one of the most professional units within the mission," Interior Minister Vladimír Palko told journalists at a news conference in Bratislava on August 30.

The minister officially praised the heroism of the officers. The fledgling security and police staff in Iraq has been a favourite target of insurgents, the TASR news agency wrote.

In a series of eight-week courses, the Slovak policemen trained their Iraqi colleagues in human rights, terrorist threats, Iraqi law, driving, shooting, self-defence and first aid.
