FOUR Slovak police officers have returned from the Jordanian capital of Amman where they have been serving for six months within the Iraqi Freedom project. Altogether, 12 Slovaks are serving on international police missions.
"The Slovak contingent belongs to one of the most professional units within the mission," Interior Minister Vladimír Palko told journalists at a news conference in Bratislava on August 30.
The minister officially praised the heroism of the officers. The fledgling security and police staff in Iraq has been a favourite target of insurgents, the TASR news agency wrote.
In a series of eight-week courses, the Slovak policemen trained their Iraqi colleagues in human rights, terrorist threats, Iraqi law, driving, shooting, self-defence and first aid.
