Personal and confidential data were published by the media and the so-called ‘Mafia list’ was leaked by the Office for the Fight against Organised Crime, said Slovakia’s Police President Jaroslav Spišiak in a written statement released on October 5, the TASR newswire reported.
"We're conducting an intensive investigation in cooperation with Interior Ministry inspectors, which will unequivocally identify specific persons responsible for this information leak," Spišiak wrote, as quoted by TASR, adding that not all the names on the list are members of organised crime as there are business partners and lawyers who came into contact with the Mafia.
"These people are not being investigated," Spišiak wrote, while refusing to call the leaked data a Mafia list.
The Police President added that the leaked information will not hamper any future investigations. The Sme daily reported that the police are close to identifying the persons responsible for the leak of the list of names.
