Police investigation department head Ján Kosťov on September 4 announced that the car explosion that killed Kováč Jr. case informant Róbert Remiáš in late April was "most probably" caused by 150 to 200 grams of explosives, Národná obroda reported. Remiáš was the close friend of Oskar Fegyveres, an alleged witness in the August, 1995 kidnapping of President Michal Kováč's son. Police previously stated the explosion was due to the malfunctioning of Remiáš's car.
