THE ANTI-corruption unit of the National Criminal Agency has launched investigation of the Star EU company which won 70 out of 70 tenders in which it participated, the Sme daily reported in its August 28 issue.
The tenders were held during the first government of Prime Minister Robert Fico; and before the tenders were held, Smer manager general and interim Labour Minister Ján Richter recommended party members to use only the services of Star EU, as reported by Sme.
The investigators have started dealing with the case after the M. R. Štefánik Conservative Institute and Sme pointed to the case. Meanwhile, Ondrej Dostál of the Civic Conservative Party (OKS) submitted a proposal to launch criminal prosecution in the case to the General Prosecutor’s Office. OKS together with NOVA movement also plan to turn to the Supreme Audit Office and the Public Procurement Office to check all 70 projects.
The tenders are also scrutinised by the Agriculture Ministry which administers the Regional Operational Programme through which Star EU won contracts altogether worth €1.44 million, Sme wrote.
The mayors and regional government representatives say they are satisfied with the consultancy services of Star EU, according to the daily.
