Poll: 61 percent Slovaks believe in God

SLOVAKIA is one of the most religious countries in the EU, with 61 percent of people declaring that they believe in God, a Eurobarometer survey showed, the Hospodárske noviny daily wrote.

The Czech Republic polled just 19 percent of the population as believing in God, and was last but one on the list. Estonia was bottom with just 16 percent of believers.

The average in the EU in terms of belief in God is 52 percent, and the most religious country is Malta with 95 percent, followed by Cyprus with 90 percent.
