Robert Fico, the chairman of Smer, the largest opposition party, enjoys the highest credibility among Slovak politicians with 37.1 percent of the respondents in a recent poll saying he deserves their trust, the SITA newswire reported.
The poll was conducted by MVK agency among 1,128 respondents between February 7 and 12, SITA wrote, with outgoing Prime Minister Iveta Radičová (Slovak Democratic and Christian union (SDKÚ)) placing second with 18.2 percent and President Ivan Gašparovič finishing third with 14.3 percent.
Most-Híd’s chairman Béla Bugár was found worthy of trust by 12.9 percent of the respondents and 11.6 percent thought the same of Interior Minister Daniel Lipšic of the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH). The chair of the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities party, Igor Matovič, and Smer MP Robert Kaliňák also had the trust of over ten percent in the poll. Each respondent was permitted to name only three politicians.
When asked about the least credible politicians, Mikuláš Dzurinda, the SDKÚ chairman, finished at the top with 52.6 percent of those polled, out-running Slovak National Party (SNS) chairman Ján Slota who placed second with 34.4 percent.
