The Institute for Public Affairs (IVO) conducted an opinion poll by telephone between March 4 and 6 to ask citizens if they supported the constitutionally-granted immunity that members of parliament (MP's) enjoy against criminal prosecution. The poll results suggest that 78% of citizens do not consider it proper.
A majority of people from every political party affiliation disagreed with the immunity clause. So did a majority of women and men, and people of all ages and education categories. People with high school education, citizens of towns from 5,000 to 20,000, citizens of larger towns from 50,000 to 100,000 and inhabitants of Trnava, Banská Bystrica and Košice regions disagreed most strongly with the present system of parliamentary immunity.
