This is 1.3 percentage points more than in September. The Freedom and Solidarity party (SaS) and the coalition of NOVA and the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) would not make it to parliament based on the poll Polis conducted for the SITA newswire.
The non-parliamentary Sieť party of Radoslav Prochazka placed second with 12.4 percent, followed by the Slovak National Party (SNS) supported by 8 percent. Most-Híd would end with 7.7 percent of the vote and the Christian Democrats (KDH) with 7.6 percent. Thus Smer would hold 78 seats in the 150-seat parliament, Sieť would have 25 seats, SNS and Most-Híd 16 seats each and KDH 15 seats.
Other parties, including the coalition of NOVA and OĽaNO with 6.8 percent and SaS with 4.7 percent, the Party of Hungarian Community (SMK) with 4.4 percent or the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) with 2.5 percent would not make it passed the threshold.
While 57 percent of the respondents in the poll said they would participate in the elections, 19 percent said they would not vote and 24 percent were hesitant. Polis carried out the poll on 1,420 respondents between October 12 and 18.
