The Strategy of Power Safety of Slovakia, presented by Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek, plans for the plant to be constructed by 2030.

The power station would be a backup source to cover energy shortages at peak energy consumption times. It would have an estimated output of 800 to 1,000 megawatts.

Construction of the power station would be probably financed by a foreign investor, but it’s not yet known which one. However, it is clear it will not be Slovenské Elektrárne, since the state plans to increase competition for Enel, the utility’s main shareholder.
