After being named as the new Slovak agriculture minister on November 27, Zdenka Kramplová (ĽS-HZDS) - a graduate in horticulture and viticulture from the University of Agriculture in Plovdiv, Bulgaria - said that she has some experience in the sector, but did not elaborate further.

"The minister is supposed to manage the sector, and first and foremost enjoy political support," she told reporters. Outgoing minister Miroslav Jureňa (also HZDS), who was recalled over a land-transfer scandal at an agency under his remit, refused to comment on his replacement, except to say that he expected somebody else to be selected.

The ruling coalition senior partner SNS leader Ján Slota believes that Kramplová is a politician with good experience and hopes that she will do a better job than her predecessor. His words were echoed by opposition SDKÚ-DS MP Tomáš Galbavý, who said Kramplová was well-qualified to take up the post. TASR
