Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič refused to sign into law changes to the copyright rules regulating the intellectual property rights.
Thus, the amendment will be returned to the parliament for a renewed debate, the daily Sme wrote in its Friday issue. Gašparovič cited the “unsubstantiated” protection of newspapers as a whole within the law on intellectual property as the reason, calling on lawmakers to omit newspapers from the draft bill.
