Slovakia wants to develop fourth-generation nuclear reactors in co-operation with Kazakhstan and Japan, Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič said after discussions with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana on March 30.
Slovakia also wants to take part in the development of gas reservoirs and provide know-how not only in Kazakhstan, but also in other Central Asian countries.
Slovakia will look into the possibility of importing nuclear materials for its nuclear power plants from Kazakhstan. Also, some five million tons of oil from Kazakhstan will flow to Slovakia via the Druzhba oil pipeline this year, which is two million tons more than in 2009, Gašparovič added, according to a TASR newswire report.
