TAXPAYERS will end up paying €10.78 million for the upcoming presidential election, according to a proposal drafted by the Interior Ministry that has been submitted for comments.

Of the total, €9.74 million should be covered from Interior Ministry coffers and the remaining €1.04 million from the budget of the Statistics Office. The sum already includes expenditures associated with a potential second round of the vote, which will take place if none of the candidates manages to gain a simple majority in the first round.
