KATARÍNA Vrábelová, a pert, 24-year-old Prešov woman, departed on April 3 on an epic journey. Vrábelová intends to cover 70,000 kilometres on her BMW Sertao motorbike as she circles the globe, travelling through some 40 countries in 14 months. Before she left she talked to SITA about her astonishing plans.
“I got the idea in March, 2012. I decided to stake everything on this one thing, to sacrifice all my time, sell my car, leave my small shop and jump ahead to the fulfilment of my dream.” During her preparations, she had to raise finances and procure equipment, arrange all kinds of licences, train physically and plan the whole journey in detail.
“A few years ago,” she continued, “I spent nine months on my first long-range trip. I passed through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Bali on a scooter and a motorbike. But that in no way compares to what I face now. The preparation for this trip has been a full-time job for almost a year. I am excited, of course, and nervous and full of respect and awe for what I hope to accomplish. I made demanding preparations, but I know that conditions in a workshop and a fitness-centre will never completely prepare me for the realities I will face on the road. But I believe in the essential goodness of people and I believe that I will complete the trip successfully.” She added that she will keep us informed during her trip sending back stories and videos which will be regularly published on the www.rockstarenergydrink.com/cz website.
