PRICES in Slovakia were 4.1 percent higher in January than in the same month in 2005, according to the European Union's harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP).
The inflation rate was 1.9 percent higher in January than it had been the month before, compared to a 0.1 percent increase month-on-month in December 2005, the SITA news agency reported, referring to data published by the Slovak Statistics Bureau.
According to the bureau, prices for housing, water, electricity, natural gas and other fuels reported the most significant monthly growth of 5.4 percent in January.
