THE FOUNDATION stone of a new industrial park was laid on July 1 in Prievidza (Trenčín region). The park will cover an area of 51 hectares, with scope for further enlargement to 73 hectares, the TASR news agency reported.
According to Prievidza Mayor Jan Bodnár, the industrial park can accommodate eight companies, and should create 1,000 to 2,000 new jobs.
The Austrian company Rubig is the first to sign an agreement with the town. Rubig wants to invest Sk1 billion (€30 million) in a plant for the heat processing of steel and for manufacturing products for the automobile industry. The plant will create 220 jobs, and construction will start in 2006.
Prievidza is negotiating with two German companies that have shown interest in investing in the industrial park.
