Prime Minister Robert Fico has said he is satisfied with the new agreement on renewable resources, according to which 20 percent of European energy will come from renewable resources by 2020.

"The text corresponds with our own ideas," he said at the end of the EU summit.

He is happy with the target as it concerns the EU average and not every country individually.

"Slovakia would not be able fulfil such a commitment, but we agree with the 20 percent target. There is still room for negotiations over what part Slovakia will play in this," said Fico.

Three to four percent of Slovak energy currently comes from renewable resources. Fico believes that Slovakia will manage increase the level to 12 to 13 percent by 2020.
