The Association of Private Doctors (ASL) praised the Dzurinda cabinet August 15 for approving a 1.9 billion crown loan to health insurers.
The group praised Dzurinda's government for taking a positive first step towards solving the critical financial situation of health care facilities. Far fewer Slovaks than required are currently paying their compulsory health insurance premiums. In turn, struggling health insurance companies are not paying doctors or pharmacists.
Compulsory health premiums collected so far 1999 are 1.1 billion crowns less than expected.
